Captain Youth

The focus of CAPTAIN (Community Action for Parents, Teens and Interested Neighbors) is to help the youth and families of Saratoga County build brighter futures, by providing programs and services that address core issues such as youth homelessness, poverty, bullying, academic failure, and family dysfunction.

Serving Opportunities:
Treasures Next-to-New Clothing Shop – Assist customers, sort donations

Clerical Office Support – Prepare mailings, file, answer phone, assist with food pantry

Food Pantry Van Driver – Friday mornings

Homework Help – Work with elementary, middle and high school students; weekday afternoons/evenings

Grounds Keeper – Lawn mowing and general upkeep

Summer Programming – Chaperones, meal preparation, run games/arts and crafts, lead team building activities, etc

Family Development – Mentor individuals and families to increase financial self-sufficiency

Teen Talk Supervisors – Mentor at risk youth involved with the Employment Readiness Program; 5pm – 8pm weekday evenings

Chaperone – CAPteen Retreat weekend in late August

Holiday Assistance Programs – Organize donations

Tax Assistance Program – Prepare and file taxes for low-income families (training provided)
